Corizon Health has a exceptional opportunity for a full time Licensed Alcohol and Drug Abuse Supervising Counselor (LCADC) at the Baltimore City Booking and Intake Facility in Baltimore, MD. The qualified candidate must have a be a Certified Supervising Counselor-Alcohol and Drug Additions.
Serves as the Methadone program-counseling supervisor. Responsible for the delivery of contracted services in the licensed methadone program. Provides coordination of substance abuse withdrawal/psychiatric/behavioral health services and programs.
A. Ensures compliance with federal and Maryland regulations and Maryland Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services policies and procedures.
B. Adhere to the standards of the National Commission of Correctional Healthcare Accreditation.
C. Provides direct supervision and consultation to LGADC, CAC-AD, CSC-AD, Alcohol and Drug Trainees pursuing either the CSC-AD/CAC-AD and LGADC/LCADC.
D. Develop schedule and assign caseload for the counseling department to ensure adequate coverage.
E. Monitors the activities and provides direction to counseling staff to ensure compliance with policies and procedures.
F. Support supervisees and accept the overflow of caseloads if counselor to patient ratio exceeds the regulatory requirement.
G. Coordinates with the medical, mental health, correctional and ancillary staff in order to provide substance abuse services to patients.
H. Evaluate program effectiveness and report problems encountered.
I. Meets with addiction medicine team to assure open communication.
J. Provide substance abuse education and training to health and institutional staff.
K. Develops regional operational plans and policies.
L. Prepare monthly reports as required.
M. Assist in interviewing and evaluating applications for professional positions.
N. Adheres to and enforces safety and security policies and participates in disaster drills.
O. Attends mandatory and optional in-service training on annual basis.
P. Participates in and conducts in-service programs.
Q. Provides direct assistance to the Administrator in administration, planning,
management and delivery of health and substance abuse services at the facility
R. Contributes to health program development and evaluation.
S. Provides documentation in accordance with unit policies and procedures.
T. Other duties as assigned.
Experience & Requirements
• Must hold a Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor in the state of Maryland
• Must have a doctoral or master’s degree
• Must have an approved Supervisor status under the Maryland Board of Professional Counseling
• Maintain state requirements for current licensure.
• At least 3 years supervisory experience as a LCADC-Supervisor. Knowledge and skills to access, diagnose and treat medical and substance abuse issues, and have knowledge and experience with the special needs and behavior of individuals in forensic and correctional settings undergoing withdrawal from substances. Prior experience in a methadone program required.
