Interrelates and works effectively with patients, medical and mental health staff and security staff at all levels
Participates in suicide/close observation rounds as ordered. Charts on patients, if assigned, or as needed for behavior changes, etc
Observes and records patient's eating habits
Maintains patient level boards. Reports patient behavior changes to staff nurse.
Checks patient's cells for cleanliness and supervise cleaning, if necessary
Assures that all patients are in the cells during count. Should an emergency arise on the unit, the technician on duty ensures the uninvolved patients are locked down and safe prior to assisting with the emergency
Observes policy on confidentiality at all times and know the policies and procedures of the assigned unit
Assists Activities Therapist with recreation and activities
Performs other appropriate duties as assigned by the nurse
Experience & Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in a behavioral health field
Associate’s degree in a behavioral health field plus two (2) years of experience as a Psych Technician
High School Diploma or equivalent plus four (4) years of experience as a Psychiatric Technician
This position may require a background check, security clearance, and/or drug screening
