The Human Resource Generalist is responsible for performing HR-related duties on a professional level and works closely with senior HR management in supporting all entities. This position carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas: benefits administration, employee relations, training, performance management, onboarding, policy implementation, recruitment/employment, and employment law compliance. This role administers employee health and welfare plans and acts as liaison between employees and insurance providers. This position resolves benefits-related problems and ensures effective use of plans and positive employee relations. The Human Resources Generalist makes that certain plans are administered in accordance with federal and state regulations and that plan provisions are followed.

  • Administers various human resource plans and procedures for all sites; assists in the development and implementation of HR policies and procedures; prepares and maintains the employee handbook.

  • Acts a liaison for third party vendors for LOA management.Manages and responds to employee inquiries/complaints via the HR mailbox.

  • Handles employee relations counseling and supports HR Business Partners in collecting and compiling information as it relates to employee relations matters.

  • Analyzes exit interview data and makes recommendations to the management team for corrective action and continuous improvement.

  • Coaches, counsels and guides managers before executing employee corrective actions.

  • Processes employee changes in HRIS.

  • Reports, maintains and monitors all workers' compensation case files; follows-up on open cases. Prepare OSHA reports on an annual basis.

  • Responsible for personnel file management. Files documents into appropriate employee files.

  • Recommends new approaches, policies and procedures to continually improve efficiency of the department and services performed.

  • Maintains human resource information system records and compiles reports from the database.

  • Maintains compliance with federal, state and local employment and benefits laws and regulations.

  • Assists in evaluation of reports, decisions and results of department in relation to established goals.

  • Maintains and processes all Unemployment Notices of Entitlement and potential charges in a timely, efficient manner. Attends unemployment hearings when necessary.

  • Facilitates or provides training (including Corporate New-Hire orientation) to the workforce.

  • Ensures compliance with USCIS Form I-9 Employment Eligibility Verification; periodically audits I-9.

  • Maintains and coordinates employee recognition programs.

Experience & Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree Required and 3 years experience.

  • SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP preferred.

  • Demonstrated and extensive technical expertise and application of human resource principles, theories, concepts and practices.

  • In depth working knowledge of FMLA, ADAAA and Workers’ compensation laws and regulations.

  • Proven investigative experience to include: conducting interviews; locating, reviewing and analyzing data; preserving evidence; and producing cohesive and thorough written reports.

  • Excellent interviewing skills.

  • Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Experience interfacing with leadership on HR related matters.

  • Possess the ability to contribute to the development of new processes or systems.

  • Excellent computer skills including Word, Excel, PowerPoint; PeopleSoft experience a plus but not required.

  • Ability to work independently or in a team environment is essential as is the ability to work extended hours and travel as required.
