Responsibilities
Assure practice of patient care is in accordance with the American Nurses Association Standards of Practice, New York State Department Health Standards, Department of Corrections Standards, Corizon and the American Correctional Association.
Demonstrates the ability to manage daily responsibilities necessary to accomplish organizational goals and objectives.
Develops and implements staffing plans based on patient acuity and skill mix required to achieve appropriate patient outcomes. Participates in recruitment of staff.
Communicates information effectively to the health care team and patients
Collaborates with the interdisciplinary team to plan for providing care. Promotes communication between staff, and other departments including security.
Ensures adequate supplies are ordered and present on the unit to care for patients
Monitors function of patient care equipment; facilitates removal of broken equipment from use and documents need for repair.
Assists with staff performance appraisals as requested
Participates in the quality assessment and improvement process
Responsible to be knowledgeable and adhere to RN job description
Performs additional duties as assigned by ADON, DON or designee within scope of practice.
Experience & Requirements
High School diploma or equivalent, valid RN license in New York State. One-year experience preferred.
Good interpersonal skills
