We have an exceptional opportunity for a Activity Technician to join our healthcare team at Kansas Juvenile Correctional Complex located in Topeka, KS.

Qualifications of the Corizon Health Activity Technician

  • Bachelor's degree in a behavioral health field; Associate's degree in a behavioral health field plus two (2) years of experience as a Psych Technician; High School Diploma or equivalent plus four (4) years of experience as a Activity Technician.

Responsibilities of the Corizon Health Activity Technician

  • Interrelates and works effectively with patients, medical and mental health staff and security staff at all levels.
  • Participates in suicide/close observation rounds as ordered. Charts on patients, if assigned, or as needed for behavior changes, etc.
  • Observes and records patient's eating habits.
  • Maintains patient level boards. Reports patient behavior changes to staff nurse.
  • Checks patient's cells for cleanliness and supervise cleaning, if necessary.
  • Assures that all patients are in the cells during count. Should an emergency arise on the unit, the technician on duty ensures the uninvolved patients are locked down and safe prior to assisting with the emergency.
  • Observes policy on confidentiality at all times and know the policies and procedures of the assigned unit.
  • Assists Activities Therapist with recreation and activities.
  • Performs other appropriate duties as assigned by the nurse.
