Qualifications of the Corizon Health Dialysis Technician

  • Graduate of an accredited dialysis technologist program
  • At least one (1) year of experience as a dialysis technologist.
  • Subject to initial and ongoing security clearance requirements.

Job Summary of the Corizon Health Dialysis Technician

Performs dialysis services as ordered by a physician or qualified practitioner within the capabilities of the institution.

Responsibilities of the Corizon Health Dialysis Technician

  • Supports and works with Dialysis supervisor, Charge Nurse and Registered Nurses in commitment to good nursing care of patients with End Stage Renal Disease.
  • Maintains a professional working relationship with patients and delivers supportive, consistent and impartial treatment for all patients, observing patient rights at all times.
  • Performs cannulation on patients to start hemodialysis treatment as ordered by the physician.
  • Sets up and tears down the dialysis blood system.
  • Changes PermaCath dressing using sterile technique and as ordered by physician.
  • Cleans machine with appropriate cleaning agent to disinfect machine.
  • Collects, prepares and stores laboratory specimens as ordered by the physician.
  • Can verbalize and understand terminology related to dialysis and the dialysis patient.
  • Obtains and records vital signs and machine readings according to policy.
  • Maintains clean and orderly working environment.
  • Notifies supervisor and completes report for incidents or accidents.
  • Complies with dress code and administrative rules.
  • Maintains proper stocks of supplies and reagents, reordering as necessary.
  • Utilizes Universal Precautions when necessary.
  • Counts medications and contrabands if required.
  • Participates in in-service education and monthly staff meetings.
  • Maintains an active CPR certification.
  • Adheres to assigned break and lunch periods.
  • Is cognizant of and adheres to all security regulations of the institution.
  • Keeps patient information confidential and respects patient's right to privacy.
  • Keeps health team informed of observations and changing conditions of patients.
  • Notifies Supervisor/designee by phone at least 4 hours in advance if unable to attend work.
  • Maintains and shows proof of an active accreditation with a copy placed in the personnel file.
