We have an exceptional opportunity for a Nurse Educator (RN) to join our Healthcare Support Team in Brentwood, TN.

Qualifications of the Corizon Health Nurse Educator (RN)

  • Current, unrestricted license as a Registered Nurse in the state of employment required.
  • Bachelor or Master's Degree in Nursing preferred.
  • Basic Life Support Certified preferred.
  • At least two (2) years of experience in a correctional health environment and staff development or training experience in a clinical/healthcare setting equivalent required.
  • Knowledge of accreditation standards (NCCHC, ACA & state-specific), as well as experience with quality improvement programs and pervious clinical auditing experience
  • Knowledge of Excel, Word, Outlook, SharePoint and PowerPoint required.
  • Knowledge of Learning Management System, Adult Learning Theory and instructional Design experience preferred.
  • Ability to travel up to fifty percent (50%) to correctional facilities, regional offices, and client and/or vendor sites required.

Job Summary of the Corizon Health Nurse Educator (RN)

The Correctional Nurse Specialist supports the delivery of safe, effective and efficient healthcare services, the achievement of performance excellence, operational consistency and quality outcomes.

Responsibilities of the Corizon Health Nurse Educator (RN)

  • Responsible for the development and management of nursing education (onboarding, continuing education, professional development) and competency programs. Maintain an awareness of changes in NCCHC and ACA standards that could have an impact on the way in which Corizon Health clinicians deliver care. Lead effort to review/update nursing education and competency program documents impacted by changes in standards, regulations or law.
  • Facilitate process and professional development in-services/training sessions.
  • Conduct training evaluation assessments to assess effectiveness of training and track post-training performance improvement outcomes. Performs annual nursing personnel learning needs assessment and works in partnership with site leads, regional nursing and corporate leadership to devise training plan to address the identified learning needs. As needed designs and develops in-service/educational programs for inmate patients.
  • Facilitate individualized teaching/learning in clinical setting/at site location as directed/when need arises. Formulate and tailors teaching plan to meet learning and/or company objectives and learning needs of training participants. Performs post-training assessments to evaluate effectiveness of training and identify opportunities to improve training delivery and method(s).
  • Perform at minimum, an annual review of nursing education and competency program documents in consultation and collaboration with VP Nursing Correctional Nurse Specialist and nursing leadership. Update/revise nursing education and competency program documentation as directed by VP Nursing. On an ongoing basis, evaluates the effectiveness of nursing education and competency programs.
  • Provide leadership in advancing the practice of nursing. Works in collaboration with multidisciplinary team to design and implement innovative training solutions to promote compliance with accreditation standards and delivery of care the "Corizon Way". Devise tools to be utilized by Health Services Administrator (HSA), Director of Nursing (DON) and on-site educators for implementing and documenting and tracking educational program(s) completion.
  • Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for regional and facility leadership in the following areas: Fundamentals of nursing practice; correctional nursing practice; correctional healthcare accreditation standards to include American Correctional Association (ACA) and the National Commission for Correctional Health care (NCCHC) and the application of the standards to facility process and performance; all Corizon Health nursing department created documents and manuals.
  • Support the development of General Health Services/Nursing specific policies and procedures. Participate in annual policies and procedures review process to ensure policy/ procedure compliant with current laws, regulations and standards (National Commission for Correctional Health care and American Correctional Association). Revise Corizon policies and procedures to assure compliance with NCCHC and ACA standards.
  • Attends CQSI/ Infection Control meetings and other meetings as designated by VP Nursing to gain knowledge/insight into company-wide trends or function- specific situations requiring training to reinforce or enhance nursing staff skills.
  • Performs other duties/tasks and participates in special projects/initiatives as assigned. Facilitates the completion of specialized/"just in time" training as assigned.
