We have an exceptional opportunity for a Nurse Manager to join our healthcare team at Duane Waters Health Center, Jackson, MI.

Qualifications of the Corizon Health Director of Nursing (DON)

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing
  • Three (3) years of experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
  • Experience in the correctional environment preferred.

Responsibilities of the Corizon Health Director of Nursing (DON)

Under indirect supervision, the Nurse Manager manages the day-to-day nursing operations of a specified clinical area, including coordination of inmate care, supervision of a nursing staff and other staff as appropriate, administrative and budget management, and troubleshooting of problem areas. The Nurse Manager ensures adherence to facility and Corizon Health nursing procedures, standards and practices.

  • Oversees the supervision of personnel, which includes work allocation, training, and problem resolution; evaluates performance and makes recommendations for personnel actions; motivates employees to achieve peak productivity and performance.
  • Coordinates in-service training, continuing education, orientation, competency reviews, and other related training functions.
  • May provide inmate outreach education and clinical services in specified specialty areas.
  • Develops or assists with the development and implementation of policies and procedures consistent with those of the facility and Corizon to ensure efficient and safe operation of the unit.
  • Develops annual operating budgets and provides fiscal direction to the unit.
