We have an exceptional opportunity for a Pharmacist to join our healthcare team located in Tempe, AZ.

Pharmacist needed for a very interesting, unique, and challenging position in correctional pharmacy. This narrow professional field of pharmacy provides a totally different view of pharmacy from the traditional retail or hospital settings. It is similar to long-term care but on a much larger scale. This opportunity is much different than your typical dispensing pharmacist position. The ability to work independently and as a team is required.

Qualifications of the Corizon Health Pharmacist

  • Graduate of an accredited college of pharmacy with a minimum of a B.S. in Pharmacy.
  • A current, unrestricted license in state.
  • Experience and/or knowledge of the practice of unit dose pharmacy in an institutional setting.
  • Thorough knowledge of all applicable State/Federal laws, rules and regulations.
  • Working knowledge of personnel administration, physician and nursing consultations and interdepartmental relationships.

Responsibilities of the Corizon Health Pharmacist

  • Maintain all pharmacy records as required by Federal/State law and department policy.
  • Respond to emergencies and critical incidents at the institution.
  • Dispense all pharmaceuticals.
  • Recognize and report possible synergistic, antagonistic or cumulative effects of drugs.
  • Provide consultation to staff regarding pharmaceuticals.
  • Check expiration date of pharmaceuticals and return/dispose of outdated pharmaceuticals and non-returnable goods.
  • Responsible for purchasing and inventory levels of all pharmaceuticals including over-the-counter medications.
  • Orient, instruct and supervise all pharmacy personnel.
  • Maintain monthly statistical information and reports as directed by administration.
  • Perform quarterly inspection of aspects of pharmaceutical services and assist in problem-solving activities.
  • Other duties as assigned.
