We have an exceptional opportunity for a RN - Clinical Education Coordinator to join our healthcare team at our Tempe Regional Office, located in Tempe, Arizona.

Job Summary:

The RN Clinical Nurse Educator will be responsible for the assisting in the development and management of education programs, including orientations and continuing education, the development and implementation of Corizon "state specific" policies, procedures and programs (i.e., infection control, quality improvement, risk management). Also responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluation mandatory and voluntary education programs for correctional officers and inmates.

  • Identifies the learning needs of Corizon employees, custody staff as well as inmates

  • Assists in designing, developing and evaluating educational and in-service educational programs

  • Assists in developing policies and procedures as they relate to accreditation standards, as well as state and federal statutes

  • Working with the RDON, DON, and new employees, assists in the development of an independent development plan based on competency assessment. Ensures annual training, competency assessment and reports are completed as required by the IDOC to meet contractual obligations.

  • Develops a team of nurse mentors for assignment to the new employee. Monitors and manages the mentor program.

  • Assists in the formulation and revision of policies and procedures annually

  • Assists in developing strategies for compliance with documentation requirements (i.e., SOAP charting), nursing care plans and treatment protocols

  • Provides and establishes a professional atmosphere that is conducive to learning

  • Facilities individualized and/or group teaching/ learning experiences in clinical or classroom setting spontaneously as needs arise

  • Assists complex leadership in the accreditation process

  • Assists in developing and maintaining a literature and video library

  • Assists in the development and approval process for standardized forms


  • Qualifications of the Corizon Health Clinical Education Coordinator

    Current Registered Nurse/Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner state license

    • BSN/Master's level or Minimum three (3) years of experience as a Registered Nurse in a correctional environment and two (2) years of experience in education / staff development

    • Preparation as a BLS "Healthcare Provider" Course Instructor by the American Heart Association within 3 months of hire

    • Knowledge of accreditation standards (NCCHC, ACA & state-specific) as well as experience with comprehensive quality improvement programs

    WORK ENVIRONMENT

    Correctional officers provide security; however, some degree of risk of verbal and physical assault from inmates exists. As in any healthcare setting, employees may be exposed to communicable and/or infectious diseases. Inside work with periodic traveling (inter and intra state) to other locations with exposure to weather, temperature extremes and hazardous road conditions. Classroom duties will require frequent standing and walking.
