We have an exceptional opportunity for a Senior Clinical Educator to join our Healthcare Support Team in Brentwood, TN.

Qualifications of the Corizon Health Senior Clinical Educator

  • Current, unrestricted license as a Registered Nurse in the state of employment required
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing required Master's Degree preferred
  • Basic Life Support Certified preferred
  • At least two (2) years of experience in a correctional health environment and staff development or training experience in a clinical/healthcare setting equivalent required
  • Knowledge of accreditation standards (NCCHC, ACA & state-specific) as well as experience with quality improvement programs and pervious clinical auditing experience preferred
  • Knowledge of Excel, Word, Outlook, SharePoint and PowerPoint required
  • Knowledge of Learning Management System, Adult Learning Theory and Instructional Design experience preferred
  • Ability to travel up to fifty (50%) to correctional facilities, regional offices, client and/or vendor sites required

Job Summary of the Corizon Health Senior Clinical Educator

The Sr. Clinical Educator provides leadership for the design, development, delivery, and evaluation of all clinical services learning programs and experiences. He/she manages all aspects of clinical educational curriculum development to include technical skills, clinical information and management, and leadership development of clinical processes and activities for clinical team members. He/she serves as the clinical education subject matter expert in collaboration with the CMO, SVPO, and SVP nursing for front line operations leaders (Health Service Administrator, Director of Nursing etc.) to enhance Corizon clinical learning processes and programs. In addition, he/she will work collaboratively with the HR Director, Training and Organizational Development to identify opportunities to reuse / repurpose content already developed and leverage existing resources and systems in the design and development of clinical training curriculum content, training materials/modules, and teaching aids to create a cohesive 'One Corizon' learning experience for clinical employees and leaders that is consistent with Corizon Health approaches and philosophies.

Responsibilities of the Corizon Health Senior Clinical Educator

  • Manage the all aspects of clinical education curriculum and implementation efforts, assessments, and refresher training initiatives. Maintain an awareness of changes in NCCHC and ACA standards that could have an impact on the way in which Corizon Health clinicians deliver care. Responsible for the development and management of clinical education to include:

    • On-Boarding Programs (Preceptor and Mentorship)
    • Initial and annual Core Clinical Competency
    • Peer Review Program
    • Core Process
    • On-Line CME/CEU Program(s)
    • Patient Education Manual
    • Correctional Officer Education Manual
    • Education for release of newly developed projects and programs (P & P's, NETs

    updates, clinical directives such as emergency medication, etc.)

    • Scope of practice and professional behaviors

  • Establish and maintain a cadence to review curriculum content and effectiveness and update to ensure content accurately reflects standards, regulations and/or law, and achieves Corizon Health clinical expectations.
  • Establish and maintain a resource pool of health professionals, current health care information, and media and material resources to assist and support staff education and professional outreach.
  • Responsible for the assessment, planning, implementing, reporting and delivery of accurate and high quality clinical training materials.
  • Evaluates clinical education processes and outcomes of defined specialty areas by gathering data to support a comprehensive assessment to determine if training is producing the intended results and meeting established learning objectives.
  • Works in collaboration with multidisciplinary team to design and implement innovative training solutions to promote compliance with accreditation standards and delivery of care the "Corizon Way". Partner with corporate training and development leader to identify and leverage systems and tools to be utilized by Health Services Administrator (HSA), Director of Nursing (DON) and on-site educators for implementing and documenting and tracking educational program(s) completion.
  • Conduct research/literature reviews to identify new information, best practices, case studies to enrich Corizon Health's clinical education process, programs, and curriculum.
  • Participate in the annual review of policies and procedures to ensure practices are compliant with current laws, regulations, and correctional healthcare accreditation standards to include; American Correctional Association (ACA), National Commission for Correctional Health Care (NCCHC), application of standards for facility processes and performance, and all clinical care related training documents and manuals.
  • Provides leadership for the assessment of clinical learning/resource needs and the establishment of directional goals for Corizon Health staff development.
  • Develop and formalize a robust quality assurance review process of all current clinical training materials. Review, evaluate, and modify / enhance existing and proposed training programs and courses; recommend and coordinate program / course changes.
  • Performs other duties/tasks and participates in special projects/initiatives as assigned. Facilitates the completion of specialized/"just in time" training as assigned.
