We have an exceptional opportunity for a Sex Offender Counselor to join our healthcare team at the Kansas Juvenile Correctional Complex located in Topeka, KS.

Qualifications of the Corizon Health Sex Offender Counselor

  • Master's degree in a mental health or social science field from an accredited college or university is required.
  • License in Kansas as a Specialist Clinical Social Worker (LSCSW), Masters Social Worker (LMSW), Masters Level Psychologist (LMLP), Clinical Psychotherapist (LCP), or Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) is required.
  • At least 1 year experience indicating knowledge of mental health counseling as it relates to sex offenders, including group and individual therapeutic intervention, diagnosis and treatment of mental disorders, crisis intervention, and mental health consultation.

Responsibilities of the Corizon Health Sex Offender Counselor

  • Completes clinical sex offender assessments and evaluations including clinical interviews, administration/scoring, and interpretation of objective risk assessment instruments.
  • Completes recommendations for patient treatment. Recommendations are documented addressing dynamic and stable risk factors, level of risk recidivism, treatment needs and strongest predictors of reoffending identified as well as level of treatment recommended.
  • Participate in quality improvement reviews.
  • Serves as a member of the multidisciplinary team and attends treatment team meetings regarding patients involved in sex offender treatment.
  • Refers patients to mental health counselor or psychiatrist as needed.
  • Participates in specialized clinical services and/or program development activities in a professional, timely manner.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
