Must be able to travel to off-site location for initial training. This is required.
Under direct supervision, the Dental Assistant/Medical Records performs non-professional work assisting the dentist with patient care, instruments, supplies and records.
Prepares operatory with appropriate instruments and material for the patients scheduled to be seen.
Assists dentist during treatment, providing instruments, material retraction or suction. Sterilizes instruments and disinfects operatory between patients.
Schedules patients for dental appointments.
Performs laboratory procedures such as mixing impression material for dentures and assists in the clinical procedures of prosthetic dentistry.
Follows security regulations for keys, sharps and controlled medications. Adheres to safety and security policies and participates in disaster drills.
Adheres to Universal Precautions and other appropriate infection control practices.
Inventories and orders supplies to maintain proper levels
Accountable for the maintenance of health records.
Organizes and maintains a system of files and records concerning diagnoses, treatments, admissions and discharges.
Retrieve medical charts for all healthcare staff or clinics as requested. File daily all currently used medical records.
Secures all active and inactive medical records.
Assure that charts are counter-signed by Physician and checks charts for completeness.
Releases information at the direction of the Medical Records Supervisor, Medical Director or Health Services Administrator.
Answer telephone, take messages and makes telephone calls. Also types letters, reports and memorandums.
Maintains a roster or appointment book based on scheduled appointments for both on and off-site appointments.
Orders, receives and maintains office supplies.

Experience & Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent.
Dental Assistant experience preferred.
Medical Records Clerk/Assistant experience is highly desired and in a clinical/medical setting is preferred
Must have current CPR certification.
Subject to initial and ongoing security clearance requirements.
